All Ages: Gentle Chiropractic Treatment for All Eastbourne’s Residents
Our chiropractic team have expertise in a range of techniques, so there’s no age limit for treatment.
Being based in Eastbourne our chiropractors see people with a wide range of ages. It’s not uncommon to see new-born babies and pregnant women visiting, as well as athletes, office workers and older people well into their nineties.
Having a friendly clinic which is accessible to all ages has always been important to us. As well as older guests we help children of all ages with muscle aches and pains.
In fact our Clinic Director James Revell first saw a chiropractor when he was a child. He was suffering with headaches that were coming from his neck. That experience inspired him to be a chiropractor many years later.
Part of our clinic’s mission is to provide truly personalised care for our patients. We will tailor and adapt your care to suit your needs and wishes. If there is a particular type of treatment you’d prefer, then just ask your chiropractor when you see him/her.
As part of a chiropractors education they have training in a range of medical conditions. So, if you have complicated conditions like: inflammatory arthropathy; auto-immune disease; a slipped disc; osteopenia or osteoporosis etc your chiropractor will understand the condition and how this might affect your chiropractic treatment. They’ll modify your treatment to work around these other health conditions, keeping you safe whilst they help your aches and pains.
Your First Visit
When you first see a chiropractor, they will start with a consultation. The consultation is designed to get to the root of the problem and work out what’s wrong.
Your initial consultation takes about 45mins to an hour. You’ll need to arrive 10min early to fill in some forms.
Your chiropractor will ask questions about your main complaint, as well as reviewing your general health, relevant lifestyle aspects and your current and past health history.
Our chiropractors will do this with you face to face.
Once your chiropractor has a detailed understanding of the complaint and your health history, they’ll move on to your physical assessment.
Parts of this assessment may require you to remove some items of clothing. If this is the case, you will be offered a gown to put on and the chiropractor will leave the room whilst you get changed.
If you’re nervous about getting undressed then rest assured our caring team will understand. If you have any worries, or have a cultural or religious concern about getting undressed then speak to your chiropractor. You can ask for a male or female chiropractor when you book.
As part of your assessment, your chiropractor may review your posture, functional movement patterns, range of motion and they’ll feel the muscles or joints that might be affecting your condition too.
Your chiropractor may carry out neurological assessments too, testing to see if you have any trapped or irritated nerves. They may check muscle strength (your myotomes), your reflexes and sensory nerves too.
Following your initial assessment, you will be booked in for a “Report of Findings” visit where your chiropractor will provide you with an explanation of their findings, what recommended treatment options are available and the benefits and risks of care.
They may recommend further investigations, such as X-Rays, these can be carried out in house. Find out more here: https://chirocare.co.uk/treatments/x-ray/
They will also explain alternative treatment options and what happens if your condition does not improve as expected. This may include referring you to another healthcare professional.
At all stages of treatment and care, you will be involved in shared decision-making with the chiropractor.
Only when you are happy to proceed and understand the implications of treatment, including the costs involved, will the chiropractor ask for your consent to begin treatment.
