Our Story

Hi, I’m James!

As a child, I suffered for years with back pain and headaches that were coming from my neck.

Having chiropractic treatment as a child changed my life. I could play sport again, and could concentrate in class without pain and headaches.

I never forgot the massive change chiropractic had made to my life and I also never forgot how kind and caring my chiropractor had been. That’s when I knew I wanted to be a chiropractor.

During my chiropractic studies I took extra courses, visited clinics and attended seminars in Europe, the USA, Canada, Australia and even … Eastbourne.

I was inspired by these experiences and they lead to our mission and values, which are still at the core of all we do here at Lushington.

In 2005

At first, after qualifying, I worked at a couple of clinics in West Sussex, but my heart was always with Eastbourne. I’ve always loved Eastbourne and my childhood memories are of it always being sunny here. So, it was only natural I wanted to come back.

My wife and I fell in love with the house that became the clinic as soon as we saw it. It needed a lot of imagination and plenty of youthful energy to see the potential, but it seemed like a dream opportunity.

A Family Venture

There was a lot to do, but we loved what we were doing. My sister joined us and after months of working evenings and weekends the clinic was ready to open, with just two treatment rooms.

Another three years later and the rest of the practice was ready, and the team had grown to include sports massage, acupuncture and two receptionists.

Digital X-Ray

We continued to develop the facilities and now host a digital x-ray facility. We can also refer you for other scans such as MRI if needed.

Established Caring Team

We’re blessed to have an established team of excellent, kind and caring practitioners.

Everyone at the clinic works well together. Our core values unite us, and we all share an enthusiasm for the Mission and Values that the clinic started with back in 2005.

We’ve got links with local GPs, as well as other health providers, osteopaths and physiotherapists.

We remain passionate about the service we provide. It’s an honour to help people with chiropractic, and we take the trust you put in us seriously and aim to provide excellent care and service whilst you’re with us.

Lushington’s Wear Your Pyjamas To Work Day 2025

On a dull January day, the team at Lushington came to work in their pyjamas and raised over £200 for Barnardos Childrens Charity through donations.

Eastbourne Half Marathon

Chiropractor Luke and massage therapist Miya are currently training for (replace with past tense post Feb 2025) the half marathon in aid of a very special Eastbourne charity – St Wilfrid’s Hospice. Miya’s grandpa was one of many local people helped by the hospice towards the end of his life, and she and her family are very grateful for the care he received. Donate to St Wifrid’s HERE.

If there are any religious or personal details you’d like us to know, then you can tell the receptionist when you book or, if you’d like to talk to your chiropractor, podiatrist or sports massage therapist before your consultation itself, then just ask for a complimentary chat.

Male & Female Practitioners

Our excellent team will prioritise your needs in an inclusive and supportive environment. If you would be most comfortable with either a male or female practitioner then do just let us know in advance.

Inclusive Support and Facilities

We provide safe and inclusive healthcare facilities, as well as supportive team members who’ll prioritise your needs.

We’re conveniently located in Eastbourne town centre. We’ve adapted the clinic to be accessible, with no steps at our main entrance or within the clinic itself. We have wide doors for scooters and pushchairs, and a parking space directly in front of the clinic. The WC is accessible with grab rails and room to use a wheelchair.

Chiropractic Information in Various Languages, and Links to Translation Services

We have access to a telephone interpreting service if needed, and you are welcome to bring a friend or family member with you to your appointment if that helps.
