Adam’s rugby injury: A shoulder pain case study
Adam is a 28 year old plumber. He also plays rugby for his local team, training twice a week. After a tackle during a rugby game Adam had bad shoulder pain that sometimes went down into the arm. It was sharp pain around the shoulder that also gave him weakness in the arm when moving.
He already has regular sports massages here at the clinic so booked an appointment with his therapist to get their advice. The sports massage therapist asked some questions about how the injury happened as well as what and where the pain was. They also did some range of movement tests which clearly showed some weakness in the shoulder. Some muscles were very tight and one particular area was very tender.
